Carl Trueman – Theology for All Conference

Last fall Dr. Carl Trueman gave a series of lectures at the Theology for All Conference entitled Church and Theology Today: What is Really at Stake?  Dr. Trueman is currently the Professor of Historical Theology and Church History at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.  His lectures discussed many issues concerning the church and theology including the disconnect between our theology and history/tradition, challenges to faith today, and what a theological church should look like.  What I gained from these lectures is a different perspective on these issues from the view of a church historian.  That being said, I commend them to you.

1.  Theology and Everyday Life: The Reformation and Beyond
2.  Contemporary Challenges to Theology and Church Life
3.  What should a theological church look like?
4.  Q & A

Jesus in Prime Time

Fellowship Bible Church in Dallas, TX is sponsoring a one day conference on October 29 called Jesus in Prime Time.  Biblical scholars who will take part in teaching that day include Darrell Bock, Daniel Wallace, Erwin Lutzer, and others.  Here is a promo blurb for the conference:

What’s “news” about Jesus, and why does it matter to the church?

Today’s media is reflecting the public’s confusion about who Jesus is. As Christian leaders, we must be informed and prepared to address this topic. This conference will feature prominent theologians as well as mainstream and Christian media personalities who will discuss current media coverage, and explain how we can teach and equip others to respond.

If I lived near the Dallas area or had the money to fly out I would certainly be in attendance.  I think this is a worthwhile discussion concerning our engagement and interpretation of the culture as it portrays its view of Jesus.  It should be good stuff.

New Attitude ’07 Conference

The New Attitude conference for singles of all ages and young married couples was held May 26-29, 2007, in Louisville, Kentucky.  The speakers for this conference included Joshua Harris, Mark Dever, Al Mohler, C.J. Mahaney, Eric Simmons, and John Piper.  The theme of the conference dealt with discernment in general as well as using discernment in many areas of life and culture.  I have only had the chance to listen to the message given by Mark Dever called Discern Your Doctrine.  In his message, Mark gives some words of wisdom concerning major and minor points of doctrine and how to discern moments of contention and charity.  Here are all 8 messages for you to listen to and be encouraged.
