I have to rep my home state. Though Reggie grew up in Cali, he represented basketball in the Hoosier state. He was a lights out shooter who knew how to move without the ball better than anyone. And his battles with the Knicks were epic. So I’m looking forward to this…

Irish Lose to USC…Again

Well…I had to endure another excruciating loss to USC today. This year’s game lived up to the hype. Notre Dame was more than capable of winning and it showed in the 4th quarter. The talent gap has been closed between the two schools due to Weis’s recruiting efforts. This team has made huge strides this year but they didn’t do enough early on or when USC made their run in the 3rd quarter. The defense was unable to put pressure on Matt Barkley for most of the game which allowed him to pick them apart for a career day. Jimmy Clausen was under the gun for the better part of three quarters before putting together an impressive string of scores. There is little doubt that having Michael Floyd on the field would have made a pretty big difference. That said…USC did what they always do and made plays when they needed to. It’s too bad Kamara slipped on that last play. I would have liked to see this game played out in overtime. Notre Dame should have earned some respect after this performance despite the loss. Vick’s Back in the Game

Several reports are coming in that Michael Vick has signed a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Some people might see this as a strange move for a team like the Eagles. Personally, I think it is a good move for the Eagles and for Vick. The Eagles are getting a guy who is extremely talented and has a lot to prove. Vick is walking into a stable team with a classy QB who can help him continue to grow as a person. Of course, this all assumes that we like the idea of Vick being allowed to play professional football once again. So what do you think?

Should Michael Vick be allowed to play pro football? Are you for it or against it?

For my own part…I think Vick should be given a second chance. He has certainly paid the consequences for his sin. Those consequences may follow him for the rest of his life in some form or fashion. But I believe forgiveness is an appropriate response to a humbled and humiliated man. As a Christian, I think we must be willing to offer forgiveness since we too have been forgiven for all of our sins. I’m pretty tired (and annoyed) by all of the PETA people who take every opportunity to rub Vick’s misdeeds in his face. If the shoe were on the other foot (regarding some other issue), I think those same people would ask for a little mercy and hope to receive it. Self-righteousness is the enemy of forgiveness.

Welcome back Mr. Vick. More than football glory, I hope you gain the hope of eternal life and the joy of forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

SI on Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow is the son of missionary parents and forthcoming about his faith in Christ. Sports Illustrated recently ran a cover story on him concerning his life outside of football. It’s a nice look at how God is using a man and his love for sports to do even greater things. I would caution everyone to not make Tim into the second coming of Moses or Paul. Too often we take celebrities who are Christians and thrust them into the limelight to act as the perfect representatives for all Christians. We place a heavy and lonely burden on their shoulders that often cannot be carried. With that being said, this is a good article on a good guy who really loves the Lord.

H.O.R.S.E. Anyone?

I can’t figure how he even gets those shots in the air, not to mention the fact that he makes them. Rumor has it that he is going to battle Shaq in a game of H.O.R.S.E. Watch out Big Aristotle.
