The Monday Muse: Twitter

Here’s a quick one for this week. Ever since it came out, Twitter has been all the rage amongst bloggers. It gives your readers the opportunity to keep up with you throughout the day. It also gives bloggers a way to post quick thoughts as things pop up. I’ve been hesitant to implement and use Twitter for a few reasons. First, do people really need a minute by minute update on my happenings? Do people need to know every single thing I do throughout the day? Second, who even cares? I mean seriously, who cares that I went to the fridge and found a moldy sandwich. So here’s the question:

Is Twitter a good idea or a waste of time?

I’m leaning toward the waste of time option but I’m open to being convinced otherwise.

I think it depends. I too could care less about your moldy sandwich found 2 months too late (albeit funny).

I saw on a friend’s blog, updates on their pregnancy, so that was cool. Not every gory detail, just that they were going into the hospital.

I like it for purposes of prayer updates, especially if you are no where near a computer.

I also like the idea of updating it, while your thoughts are still strong and urgent in your mind. There are times I think, man that would be a good post, but then forget altogether when I am finally in front of the computer.

You bring up some good points. I read a guy’s blog who is using Twitter to update people on his wife’s surgery so that’s pretty cool. On the flip side, I’ve seen some who just post pointless stuff on there. Like you said, I suppose it depends on your purpose for using it. I’m still debating whether or not it is worth it for me.

Do you think churches should have regular evaluations of the worship gatherings? Why or why not?
